New YouTube TV subscribers can currently save $10 per month for the first three months when signing up. As to be expected, this is a limited time deal, so those looking to take advantage of the YouTube TV subscription saving will need to act fast. Furthermore, it’s not so easy to find unless you know how.
YouTube TV has proven to be one of the more popular live TV streaming services and now boasts more than three million subscribers. However, it has also been the subject of plenty of price increases. The most recent one arrived mid-way through 2020 and increased the cost from $49.99 to $64.99 per month, making it one of the more expensive live TV base plans currently available.
For those looking to save on that cost, YouTube TV is now running a promotion that reduces the monthly cost by $10. Once applied, this results in the price of a YouTube TV subscription dropping down to $54.99 per month for the first three months.
There’s no code needed to get the discount although it is a little hidden on the site. For example, YouTube TV officially states the deal is being offered to those who have been “contacted by YouTube” and so visiting the YouTube TV website may or may not show a banner at the top of the page highlighting the promotion.
However, by using a slightly different link, consumers can make sure the deal banner shows up, regardless of being contacted by YouTube. Instead of visiting tv.youtube.com as normal, heading to tv.youtube.com/welcome/go should automatically show the banner at the top of the page. We’ve tested on more than one browser and device, and it appears to work.
YouTube TV $10 deal caveats
As is usually the case, there are some caveats and restrictions to be aware of with time the major one. This promotion officially came into effect on January 21 and is only available up until 11:59 pm PT on January 28, 2021. As a result, new subscribers only have a few days to sign up at the lower monthly rate.
Besides the limited time, YouTube TV is only offering the cheaper price to new subscribers. Not only are current subscribers excluded, but so are those who have been a YouTube TV subscriber before, including those who have only taken part in a YouTube TV trial. Speaking of which, the free trial does not seem to be affected by this promotion. So in addition to saving on the first three months, subscribers can also take advantage of the free period currently on offer.
Another, but to be expected, caveat is that subscribers will need to manually cancel their subscription before the end of the third discounted month, if they want to avoid the subscription automatically increasing to the normal $64.99 monthly rate. Likewise, the deal cannot be combined with any other promotion or savings offered by YouTube TV.
