Is The History Channel On YouTube TV?

YouTube TV History Channel

YouTube TV does not currently provide access to the History channel. Although a number of live TV streaming services do include the channel, YouTube TV is not one of them. Of course, channel lists are not static and it is possible that YouTube TV will add the channel in the future. In the meantime, consumers will want to consider an alternate streaming service to watch the History channel.

YouTube TV continues to be a popular option for those looking for an alternative to traditional cable and satellite packages. In general, YouTube TV is one of the better options thanks to the extensive channel selection which brings a good mixture of news, entertainment and sports channels together into one plan that subscribers can cancel at any time.

While the channel lineup is pretty varied, YouTube TV doesn’t currently include the History channel. Not only does this mean that YouTube TV subscribers cannot tune in and watch History live, but it also means on-demand History programming is not available through YouTube TV, and subscribers cannot use their account details to log in to the History website, or access any of the standalone History apps either. Put simply, YouTube TV is currently not a viable solution for any homes looking to watch History channel live or on demand.

Options for streaming History channel

With YouTube TV not offering the History channel, individuals and households interested in streaming History programming will need to consider an alternative. Generally speaking, the cheapest option for streaming History is Frndly TV. However, consumers will need to weigh up whether the more limited selection of channels available through Frndly TV will suit their individual needs before signing up. With plans starting as low as $25 and $35 per month respectively, Philo and Sling TV are another two affordable options for streaming History without a cable or satellite TV package. Once again, consumers will need to see if the rest of the channel selections provided by these more affordable services meet their needs.

For those looking for an overall package that’s more similar to YouTube TV, but with History included, DirecTV Stream, Hulu Live TV, and Vidgo are going to be better options. As to be expected, the channel lineups for each of these services do vary and might be missing other channels that YouTube TV includes. Not to mention, the prices also vary and subscribers could end up paying more for a subscription than through YouTube TV, depending on the plan and any add-ons they subscribe to.

While History does actually offer its own app that can be used to stream popular shows and content, consumers cannot currently subscribe directly through the app. Instead, the app requires users to already have an active live TV subscription set up and it is those login details that are used to unlock the on-demand content or watch live. Furthermore, not all of the services that include History in their channel lineup automatically also offer TV Everywhere support for History channel. For example, Frndly TV and Sling TV subscribers cannot use their subscription credentials to sign in to the History apps or website while Philo subscribers can.

History on YouTube TV summary

The History channel is not available to stream through YouTube TV but that might change in the future. YouTube TV does offer an extensive channel list and the lineup does change over time with some channels removed and others added. It is possible that History could be added at a later time, but there are no indications that’s going to happen soon. The History channel is owned by A&E Networks and it is likely that a deal done to carry History would also require YouTube TV to carry other A&E Networks as well.

For now, the cheapest options for streaming History channel without cable are Frndly TV, Philo and Sling TV. However, only Philo also offers TV Everywhere support for logging in to the History website and apps. Otherwise, DirecTV Stream, Hulu Live TV and Vidgo can also be used to watch the History channel, albeit at a much higher monthly price than the other live TV services.
