YouTube TV is giving subscribers a free preview of HBO Max and Cinemax for Thanksgiving. It is not unusual for live TV and subscription streaming services to offer freebies and deals at this time of year, although they are typically saved for new customers. With this free preview, however, YouTube TV is rewarding its existing subscriber base with access to premium content.
HBO Max and Cinemax are just two of the many subscriptions that can be added to an existing YouTube TV package. If adding HBO Max, the cost is $14.99 per month on top of the price of the base YouTube TV plan. At $9.99 per month, Cinemax is a cheaper add-on. Both of these premium services also come with a seven-day free trial when added to the base plan.
Next week, YouTube TV subscribers won’t have to worry about signing up to either service, or canceling before the free trial ends, as YouTube TV is offering a free preview of both. YouTube TV’s HBO Max and Cinemax free previews are due to go live on November 22nd and remain available through November 29th, resulting in more than a full week of free premium content.
During this free period, which not only includes Thanksgiving but also the Black Friday and Cyber Monday weekend, subscribers will be able to catch up on all the latest HBO and HBO Max original shows, as well as the varied selection of movies available through Cinemax.
It is worth noting that the free preview doesn’t include direct access to the HBO Max app, so subscribers will only be able to watch the HBO Max content that’s available through YouTube TV. This was also the case last year when YouTube TV offered a HBO Max and Cinemax free preview, although that freebie only lasted for the weekend unlike the 9 days subscribers are getting this year.
For those that want to retain access to either service after the free preview comes to an end, both HBO Max and Cinemax can be added through the Membership section of the YouTube TV account settings.
