YouTube will be testing some preseason games with NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers over the weekend. Sunday Ticket is available to both YouTube and YouTube TV users.
With NFL season just around the calendar corner, YouTube has been ramping up preparations for the full launch of NFL Sunday Ticket. Just recently, YouTube opened up the option to pay monthly for Sunday Ticket, and plans to launch student plans soon.
While preseason games are not technically part of NFL Sunday Ticket, YouTube has confirmed that it will be “testing a small set of games this weekend” and is offering existing Sunday Ticket subscribers to share early feedback on their experience.
According to YouTube, the following preseason games will be available to watch over the weekend with a Sunday Ticket subscription:
- Saturday, August 19
- Tennessee Titans at Minnesota Vikings (8PM ET)
- Saturday, August 2
- Buffalo Bills at Chicago Bears (1PM ET)
- Seattle Seahawks at Green Bay Packers (1PM ET)
- Arizona Cardinals at Minnesota Vikings (1PM ET)
In the same Reddit post, YouTube also confirmed that it has been improving video quality in general, and will continue to do so. In relation to Sunday Ticket, YouTube explained that “games will have distinct source feeds broadcast in 1080p (a mix of native and upscaled) compared to 720p local broadcasts.”
YouTube also said that it is currently working with partners to bring more 1080p HDR and 4K games to users in the future.
On a final Sunday Ticket-related note, YouTube once again confirmed that it will be launching multiview for the upcoming football season, and will provide users with the ability to “choose from an extensive assortment of multiview combinations, including local NFL, college football, and NFL Sunday Ticket games.”
