It is possible that you might get the opportunity to tune in to FAST channels from your favorite influencers in the future and watch a continuously playing, ad-supported feed of their videos.
Previously known as SelectTV, FreeCast markets itself as the service with the “largest collection of FAST channels.” While the company does primarily focus on free channels and content, FreeCast also offers a Value Channels bundle that unlocks access to a selection of additional channels as well as a cloud DVR for $6.99 per month.
Paid plan aside, FreeCast is attempting to position itself as one of the leaders in FAST channels, and part of that approach now appears to be helping influencers and niche content producers to quickly create and manage their own FAST channels.
FreeCast has now announced the launch of a new FAST channel creation service called FreeCast FAST. Utilizing its existing infrastructure, expertise, and technologies, the new service was created as an end-to-end solution for turning video content into monetizable FAST channels.
Essentially, FreeCast is offering the new service as a way for any content creator to bring together their video feed or catalog and have the video collection turned into a linear channel. That is a channel that continuously plays video content and already has ads dynamically inserted.
Once created, the channel will then also be able to be distributed across its network, unlocking across to viewers on all major platforms and device types.
If embraced by content creators and users alike, then it is possible that people may soon get the option to tune in to their favorite content creator’s channel.
In theory, viewers could end up channel surfing from a TV guide that’s filled with content creators in a similar way to how they currently hop between the 100s of free channels they have access to today.
