Philo is now available on Vizio smart TVs, providing subscribers with another way to access and watch the live TV streaming service. As Philo is more of an affordable way to stream live TV, device support is an area that has been a little more limited when compared to other services. In particular, support for first-party smart TV platforms.
Up until now, for example, Samsung’s Tizen was the only first-party operating system the Philo app could be downloaded on. With the app now also available on Vizio smart TVs, SmartCast becomes the latest addition to Philo’s supported platforms list.
As this is Vizio, Philo subscribers won’t have to worry about downloading the app either. Instead, the Philo app can now be accessed by pressing the home button on the Vizio remote, selecting Apps, and using the search function to search for Philo. Existing Philo subscribers can then simply log in to the app with their account details to access live TV, on-demand content and recordings.
For any Vizio smart TV users now considering signing up to Philo, the streaming service’s base package costs just $25 a month. For that price, subscribers get access to more than 70 live TV channels and a selection of additional FAST channels. Subscribers also get access to an unlimited cloud DVR, making it possible to record movies, shows, and more.
In addition to their smart TV, Vizio users subscribed to Philo can also access the live TV streaming service on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku devices, as well as Android phones and tablets, iPhones, and iPads.
