If you’ve been looking for an alternate way to sign up to Max and stream the library of content, it is now possible to subscribe to the streaming service through YouTube Primetime Channels.
While not typical cheaper, YouTube Primetime Channels is a convenient way to subscribe to services for those with a Google account. Adding to the convenience, it is also possible to access content directly within the main YouTube app.
If signing up to Max directly, the cheapest plan costs $9.99 a month. However, that plan isn’t available to those signing up to Max through YouTube Primetime Channels. Instead, YouTube users will need to sign up for a minimum of the $15.99 a month plan. On the plus side, this is an ad-free plan, unlike the cheaper $9.99 tier.
As a reminder, any Primetime Channel, including Max, can be subscribed to by searching for the name of the service in the YouTube app. Alternatively, by navigating to the Movies & TV section of the app or website and choosing one of the premium channels under the Browse tab.
Max has recently expanded the level of content available to subscribers. In September, for example, Max subscribers gained access to CNN Max, a dedicated news channel and platform. Even more recently, Max unlocked the ability to watch select live sports for free through the Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On. Unlike CNN Max, access to live sports (and Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On in general) is only free for a limited time.
For those less interested in paying for Max, earlier today the free streaming service Tubi confirmed it had extended its existing agreement with Warner Bros. Discovery. The new deal results in Tubi gaining access to a variety of DC movies, as well as a number of additional WB TV FAST channels.
