Mediacom Communications is now offering the Xumo Stream Box to its Xtream Internet customers. The 4K streaming device is powered by Comcast’s Entertainment OS and available to Xtream customers at no additional cost.
Comcast and Charter launched their Xumo Stream Box in October of last year, with initial availability reserved for Spectrum customers. Soon after, Comcast and Charter confirmed a deal had been agreed to offer the streaming player to Mediacom customers.
Following that initial announcement, the Xumo Stream Box is now available to Xtream customers as a one-stop streaming solution. For example, Xtream customers don’t have to worry about downloading apps, as the device comes with more than 200 pre-installed streaming apps already. The Xumo Stream Box also offers access to more than 300 free live (FAST) channels through the Xumo Play app.
“Xumo Stream Box is an incredibly versatile and consumer-friendly technology that seamlessly integrates our market leading broadband speeds with a world class streaming experience,” said Tapan Dandnaik, Mediacom’s SVP of Operations, Product Strategy and Consumer Experience. “We are thrilled to be among the first companies to bring this cutting-edge device to market.”
Mediacom is the third U.S.-based cable operator to offer Xumo Stream Box to its customers, following Xfinity Internet (and Now TV) customers gaining access to the streaming player in December.
Regardless of whether a customer of one of these cable operators, it is also possible to buy the Xumo Stream Box directly from Xumo for a one-off payment of $59.99.
