With Season 5 of Yellowstone about to begin, there may be homes looking to stream the latest episodes, or watch previous seasons to catch up on everything that has happened so far. The good new is that seasons 1 to 4 are all available through the same service, making a single subscription enough to catch up on the show. When it comes to new episodes, a live TV subscription will be required to stream Yellowstone series 5.
The very first episode of Yellowstone was shown in 2018. Since then, seasons 2, 3, and 4 have all been released. Series 4 began on November 7th, 2021 and came to an end on January 2nd, 2022. The first episode of season 5 premieres this Sunday (Nov. 13th, 2022), with the final episode currently due to be shown on January 1st, 2023.
For those looking to catch up on the previous seasons and episodes, Peacock is the place to be. The NBCUniversal-owned service is currently the home of Yellowstone and all four seasons are now available to stream with a subscription. Peacock offers two main plans for consumers to choose from, Premium and Premium Plus.
The standard Premium plan costs $4.99 per month and unlocks access to every episode from season 1 through to the end of season 4. The Premium Plus plan costs $9.99 per month and offers an ad-free viewing experience as well as the option to download episodes to watch offline.
Yellowstone seasons available to stream on Peacock:
- Season 1 – 9 Episodes
- Season 2 – 10 Episodes
- Season 3 – 10 Episodes
- Season 4 – 10 Episodes
How to watch Yellowstone season 5
When it comes to season 5 of Yellowstone, a live TV subscription is going to be needed. As new Yellowstone episodes are due to be shown on Paramount Network, a live TV subscription that includes access to the channel will be required. This essentially means choosing between DirecTV Stream, fuboTV, Hulu Live TV, Philo, Sling TV (Comedy Extra add-on also required), and YouTube TV.
Of these live TV services, Philo is currently the cheapest option overall. The standard Philo subscription costs $25 per month and unlocks access to more than 60 live TV channels, including Paramount Network. Philo also offers access to an on-demand library and an unlimited cloud DVR for recording episodes and movies.
If opting for one of the other services then the monthly subscription cost will be much higher. At the same time, the channel lineups and features will also be different, so some homes may find a more expensive service better suits their needs.
Below is an overview of the cheapest plans currently available through all of the live TV services that offer access to Paramount Network.
Price p/m | Free trial | |
---|---|---|
Philo | $25 | 7 days |
Sling TV (+ Comedy Extra) | $46 | No |
YouTube TV | $64.99 | 14 days |
fuboTV | $69.99 | 7 days |
Hulu Live TV | $69.99 | No |
DirecTV Stream | $69.99 | 5 days |
For reference, Paramount Network does also offer a free 24 Hour Pass to watch without a live TV subscription. This is only a one-time use pass and only works through the Paramount Network website. While this should make it possible to watch the first episode of season 5 for free, it won’t be a solution for the rest of the new season.
For those that would prefer to watch season 5 on demand, new episodes are expected to become available to stream within 24 to 48 hours after being shown on live TV, and a live TV subscription will still be required. Most live TV provider apps will likely offer the episodes on demand after they’ve aired, but they can also be watched through the Paramount Network app and website. However, users will still need to log in with an active live TV subscription that includes access to the Paramount Network channel.
For those wondering, a Paramount Plus subscription is not going to be an option for watching season 5 of Yellowstone. Even though Paramount Plus unlocks access to many Paramount Network shows, Yellowstone is not one of them. NBCUniversal, who owns Peacock, currently has the U.S. streaming rights to show Yellowstone reruns in the US. While Peacock is likely to be where season 5 of Yellowstone becomes available to stream, there’s currently no word on when that will happen. In the meantime, a live TV subscription with access to Paramount Network is the only way to watch new episodes.
Where to watch Yellowstone summary
Watching seasons 1 to 4 of Yellowstone are easy enough considering Peacock currently has every episode available to stream. For those wanting to watch the very latest Yellowstone episodes as they become available, a live TV subscription is required, with Philo the cheapest option overall. Otherwise, DirecTV Stream, fuboTV, Hulu Live TV, Sling TV, and YouTube TV, are all possible options. Eventually, it is expected that season 5 will become available to stream on Peacock, although that’s not likely to happen while new episodes are still airing on Paramount Network.
