How to Watch TruTV Without Cable (as Cheap as Possible)

TruTV channel

The cheapest way to watch TruTV without cable is Sling TV. TruTV is a popular channel for many and while it is available to stream through a number of live TV services, it is not available through all of them. More importantly, some are more expensive than others, making choosing the right one all the more complicated for viewers specifically interested in streaming TruTV without cable.

With shows like Impractical Jokers, Adam Ruins Everything, Tacoma FD, and The Carbonaro Effect, TruTV is a good destination for entertainment content. Due to this, whether switching to streaming for the first time or just looking to switch services to save money, it can be important that TruTV is included in the package.

The good news is TruTV is fairly widely available through many of the popular live TV streaming services. However, some currently don’t include the channel in their lineups. For example, fuboTV does not include TruTV with a subscription and neither does Vidgo. Likewise, Philo subscribers also cannot watch TruTV. Considering the low cost of a Philo subscription, the lack of TruTV immediately rules out one of the cheapest options for watching without cable.

Cheapest way to watch TruTV

Sling TV is currently the cheapest way to watch TruTV without cable. With plans starting at $35 per month, TruTV along with a number of other channels can be streamed through the one package. Sling TV offers two main plans, Orange and Blue. While these plans come with very similar channel lineups overall, there are some differences. For example, those looking to stream TruTV, they will need to subscribe to the Sling Blue plan at $35 per month.

In addition to TruTV, Sling Blue provides access to more than 40 live TV channels. Overall, the Sling Blue plan focuses on news and entertainment channels with access to CNN, HGTV, ID, Lifetime and TBS, among others. However, it is missing some channels that are only available through Orange, such as ESPN.

Sling TV also provides subscribers with access to a variety of on demand content, different add-ons to increase the number of channels, 50 hours of cloud DVR recording space, and the ability to stream on multiple devices at the same time. Not to mention, the option to cancel at any time.

Other ways to watch TruTV

While Sling TV is the cheapest option for watching TruTV without cable overall, it is not the only one. In fact, many of the main live TV streaming services include TruTV and usually in their base subscription. Besides Sling TV, the next cheapest option is going to be Hulu Live TV or YouTube TV.

Both Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV charge $64.99 per month for their base subscriptions, so both are equally as cheap or expensive as each other. Both base plans do include TruTV, but at this price they are almost twice as much as the Sling Blue plan. However, Hulu Live TV does include the base Hulu subscription at no additional cost, while YouTube TV offers an unlimited cloud DVR experience. Therefore, the additional channels and features might make the higher cost of Hulu Live TV or YouTube TV more worthwhile to some consumers.

The last main option for streaming TruTV without cable is AT&T TV. This service offers a variety of different plans to choose from, including both contract and no contract options. While these plans do vary in price, TruTV is actually included in the Entertainment package, AT&T TV’s cheapest plan. However, priced at $69.99 per month, it is not exactly cheap, and is considerably more expensive than the Sling Blue plan.

TruTV and TV Everywhere

Besides streaming channels through a live TV service’s app and website, there is also the option of watching directly through a network’s own app and website. This is made possible through TV Everywhere support where live TV subscribers are able to use their account details to authenticate their subscription and watch live or on demand content. Considering a live TV subscription is still required, this doesn’t make watching a channel any cheaper. However, it is an additional option for watching popular channels.

Unfortunately, this is not a possibility with TruTV. For reference, TruTV does come with TV Everywhere support, so it is possible to watch live or on demand content through the TruTV website. The problem is that the channel’s TV Everywhere support does not extend to streaming services. Due to this, regardless of whether subscribed to Sling TV, or any of the other live TV streaming services, watching TruTV through TV Everywhere is not currently available.

As TV Everywhere support is an evolving feature, it is possible that support for live TV streaming services will be added in the future. Until then, subscribers will only be able to watch TruTV live and on demand through their subscription service’s app and website.

Watch TruTV without cable summary

The cheapest way to watch TruTV without cable is Sling TV. The live TV service offers two main plans, but TruTV is only included with Blue. A Sling Blue subscription currently costs $35 per month. While Sling TV subscribers can take advantage of TV Everywhere to watch live and on demand content through a channel’s app or website, that’s currently not possible with TruTV.

The next cheapest options for streaming TruTV are Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV, with both services charging $64.99 per month for a base subscription. Alternatively, AT&T TV’s Entertainment plan also includes access to TruTV. However, at $69.99 per month, it is the most expensive way to stream TruTV without cable.
