Walmart is almost ready to sell you its new $20 streaming player. While there are plenty of streaming players available to buy, and even below $50, there are few priced quite as cheap as Walmart’s new Onn Google TV 4K Streaming Box.
For those unfamiliar with this brand, Onn is Walmart’s in-house brand for personal electronics and accessories. In other words, buying anything that’s branded as Onn is pretty much the same as buying something that’s branded as Walmart.
This is also not the first Onn-branded streaming player that Walmart has sold.
Back in 2021, Walmart started selling its Onn Android TV 4K streaming player. Based on the Walmart listing for the new and old models, the newer version sports an identical design. In this sense, it should be considered more of a refresh than a completely new device.
However, one clear difference between the two versions is that the newer model runs on Google TV instead of Android TV. For those that are considering picking one up this will be an important distinction. Other than the mention of Google or Android TV, the packaging for both looks the same.
In addition to Google TV and support for Google Assistant, the new Onn streaming player is listed as coming equipped with 2GB RAM and 8GB storage, and is powered by a quad-core Cortex-A35 along with a Mali-G31 MP2 GPU.
Although Walmart has now listed the new Onn Google TV 4K streaming player on its website, it doesn’t appear to have officially started selling the device online yet. For what it’s worth, a similar situation happened in 2021.
Back then, the website listing for the Android TV version went live in May and the streaming player officially became available to buy online around one month later.
While we wait for this $20 streaming device to officially go on sale, don’t be too surprised if you’re shopping at Walmart and happen to find the Onn Google TV 4K streaming player is available to buy in store.
