Vizio ended the second quarter of 2024 with 18.8 million SmartCast Active Accounts, resulting in a slight increase on the previous quarter. However, Vizio saw no increase in the number of hours streamed during the most recent quarter.
Vizio, which was recently purchased by Walmart, closed out the first quarter of this year with 18.6 million Active Accounts. With 18.8 million reported for Q2 2024, the company saw an increase of 200,000 Active Accounts during the second quarter.
With the company having previously reported 18.5 million Active Accounts at the end of 2023, Vizio has added around 300,000 in the first half of 2024. Considering Vizio closed out the second quarter of 2023 with 17.6 million Active Accounts, Vizio added 1.2 million Active Accounts year over year.
In terms of hours streamed, Vizio reports a total of 5.6 billion hours. This is exactly the same number of hours reported for the first quarter of 2024, and a slight increase on the 5.5 billion reported for the final three months of 2023.
SmartCast Hours per average SmartCast Active Account totaled 100 per month in the second quarter. While slightly down on the 101 per month reported for the first quarter of 2024, it is an increase on the 94 per month reported for Q2 2023.
During the second quarter, Vizio added a number of new channels to WatchFree+, including Death Valley Days, Tribeca Channel, Nature Moments, and World’s Wildest Police Videos. The company also launched more than 20 new apps, including NBC Sports, Fox News, Fanmio, and Binge Korea.
Vizio also confirmed The Women’s Cup Summer 2024 Games (Aug. 9 to 17) will be exclusively available to stream on WatchFree+ and launched a new Hot Summer Movie collection.
