Vidgo has now added some new features, including timeshift and TV Everywhere support. The live TV service is a relatively new addition to the scene and was previously lacking in some common features and so, these new additions are likely to result in an improved viewing experience overall.

Vidgo might not be as well known as Hulu Live TV, Sling TV, or YouTube TV, but it does look to offer an alternative live TV streaming experience. Besides being cheaper than Hulu and YouTube’s live TV streaming services, Vidgo comes with an emphasis on social watching and especially in relation to live sports and events. However, since launch the service has been lacking some key features, including cloud DVR support.

Vidgo is now offering subscribers the option to pause and even play content from the start. Furthermore, the feature also allows viewers to watch a show for up to 24 hours after it was first shown. While the new timeshift feature isn’t a replacement for DVR, it should help to bridge the gap a little by offering subscribers an alternative to having to tune in live to watch content. In the announcement, Vidgo explains how this feature has arrived “just in time for the kickoff of the NFL and College Football season.”

TV Everywhere adds more content options

TV Everywhere is available with a variety of live TV streaming services and acts as a way for subscribers to access additional content directly through an included network’s third-party app. With Vidgo now offering the same functionality, viewers will have the option of accessing many third-party apps, logging in with their Vidgo credentials and then streaming content directly from the app, instead of through Vidgo.

Besides the timeshift and TV everywhere support, Vidgo also explained that it has launched a new web player that allows subscribers to stream via Chrome, Firefox, and Safari web browsers. Vidgo also took the opportunity to point out that the service now supports Apple AirPlay and Google Chromecast. Although the option to send video content from a smartphone to a streaming player or directly to a AirPlay or Chromecast-enabled smart TV was added to Vidgo back in February.
