Tubi Supported Devices: Compatible Smart TVs & Players

Tubi compatible devices

Tubi is compatible with a number of different devices, including smart TVs, streaming players, mobile devices and more. Considering Tubi is a totally free service, it can be a great addition to an individual or household’s streaming setup, as long as it is available on the existing selection of devices in the home. For some, it may even be a useful enough service to consider picking up a supported device if they don’t already have one.

There are now plenty of streaming services to consider and while that’s good news overall for consumers, the sheer variety of choice can made choosing the right ones all the more harder. Not to mention, the varying prices of streaming services, and how quickly the cost can add up, will impact on which ones consumers can afford to pay for. This is why free streaming services are growing in popularity as they offer a way to watch shows and movies without having to also watch the cost.

Tubi is one of the major services in this space and with good reason – it provides access to a wide selection of movies and TV shows for free. In fact, not only don’t users have to pay for the service, but they don’t even have to sign up either. Although there are some benefits to creating an account which might make the handing over of an email address worthwhile for those that plan to use the service on a regular basis. In spite of its benefits, Tubi is only worth considering if it supports the devices a home has access to.

Tubi compatible devices

For those new to Tubi, the free service can be accessed on a wide variety of devices, but not every one. The overall supported device list is pretty long considering this is a free service, but consumers shouldn’t be too surprised if it is not available on as many devices as popular paid services.

The devices listed above are the current compatible devices. As is always the case with device support lists, they do tend to expand over time. Due to this, consumers may find that a currently unsupported device gains support at a later time.

Watching Tubi on a smart TV

Generally speaking, smart TVs can often be one of the most neglected device categories, but that’s not really the case with Tubi. Instead, the free streaming service comes with support for many of the most popular TV brands including Samsung, LG, Hisense, Sony and Vizio. Of course, this does not necessarily mean that every TV model from these brands will be supported, but consumers can easily check if their individual TV is compatible by searching for “Tubi” in the app store installed on the device.

Besides the major TV brands, Tubi is also compatible with Android devices in general and this includes TV sets powered by Android TV and Google TV. Considering Android/Google TV is the operating system in use on many popular TV models, this support opens up Tubi access to many more homes. Just like any other app, those with a TV running Android/Google TV can download the Tubi app from the Google Play Store.

Similar to Android/Google TV, Tubi also comes with wide support for the Amazon Fire TV and Roku platforms. As a result, owners of a Fire TV Edition TV or a Roku TV can also download the Tubi app directly from Amazon’s App Store or Roku’s Channel Store on their device.

Watching Tubi on a streaming player

Similar to the smart TV situation, with support for Fire TV, the Tubi app can be downloaded on a number of Fire TV players, including the standard Fire TV and the Fire TV Stick. The same is also true with Roku, as the Tubi Roku Channel is compatible with a variety of Roku players including the Roku Streaming Stick and Roku Ultra. With wide Android support on offer as well, the Tubi app can also be downloaded on Android TV players including the Nvidia Shield TV and Mi Box.

The streaming player support doesn’t stop there either as Tubi is also available to download on Apple TV, so long as the Apple TV player is a 4th Generation or newer. In fact, the free streaming service can also be found on some provider-specific boxes as well, with the app available on Comcast’s Xfinity X1 player and Cox’s Contour device.

Depending on the streaming player, some homes may find they don’t even need to actually download the app. For example, Tubi comes preloaded on TiVo devices, so users just need to select ‘Apps’ from the TiVo Central home screen and then scroll through the options until they find Tubi.

Other ways to watch Tubi

If consumers have exhausted all the options mentioned above and still find they are unable to watch Tubi, there are some additional options to consider. The first of which is a web browser. Like most other services, users can watch movies and TV show episodes by directly heading over to the Tubi website via Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge or Firefox. Although this might not be possible on some smart TVs or streaming players, there are a number of devices—like a laptop—that can be directly connected to a TV to bridge the support gap.

Likewise, Tubi does also come with Chromecast support. Therefore, for those with an Android device, they can simply download the Tubi mobile app and cast Tubi to a smart TV or any other device that supports Chromecast. Speaking of which, Tubi can also be watched directly on Android phones and tablets, iPhone and iPad, as well as various Amazon Fire and Kindle Fire tablet models.

Not forgetting, Tubi is also available to download and watch on Sony’s PlayStation 4 and 5 consoles as well as Microsoft’s Xbox One, Series S, and Series X game consoles. If all else fails, the free streaming service can even be watched on the Amazon Echo Show and Google Nest Hub smart displays.

Tubi supported devices summary

In spite of being a free service, Tubi is available to download and watch on a surprising number of platforms and devices. Notably, the free service is compatible with most of the major TV brands so many homes won’t even need to use an additional device to download the app. For those without a compatible TV, Tubi can be installed on many streaming players, game consoles, mobile devices, and even smart displays.

When all else fails, the actual web version of Tubi is always worth considering. Although it is not as convenient as an app installed on a device, there are many ways to connect other devices (with access to a browser) to a smart TV, making it possible to watch Tubi’s free movies and shows on the big screen in even more homes.
