RayNeo and SEI Robotics are launching a new Pocket TV streaming box that’s powered by Google TV. While there are already plenty of Google TV streaming players to choose from, including Walmart’s new Onn 4K Pro, this one is a little different, as it makes it possible to use Google TV anywhere.
Basically, the streaming box has been designed with the RayNeo XR glasses in mind. Once connected to the glasses, wearers will get access to a portable big-screen Google TV experience. As this is a portable device, the streaming box is also the remote and features the usual navigation wheel, volume and channel controls, and a Google Assistant button for quick access to Google’s virtual assistant. The remote also features Prime Video and YouTube shortcut buttons as well.
Naturally, battery life is going to be the big concern with a device like this and RayNeo is hoping to mitigate against that problem with a 6,500mAh battery. According to the company, the battery capacity is enough to power 5.5 hours of video playback.
A connection to the internet is going to be the other issue with a device like this. While internal storage won’t solve that problem, the Pocket TV streaming box comes loaded with 64GB of built-in storage, making it possible to watch stored videos without an internet connection. There’s also the ability to expand the storage with a microSD card (support up to 2TB).
“The Pocket TV is a game-changer in redefining XR user experience,” said Howie Li, Founder and CEO of RayNeo. “With this innovation, we’re not just offering a product; we’re crafting an unforgettable, on-the-go entertainment journey for users.”
In terms of the price, and ignoring the fact that a pair of XR glasses are required, the Pocket TV is due to cost $179 when it goes on sale via RayNeo’s Amazon store later this month.
