The Weather Channel app is now available on Vizio smart TVs, providing Vizio TV users with the option to access personalized weather tracking as well as weather-related news and entertainment content.
Local Now, which is partly powered by The Weather Channel, launched on Vizio TVs back in 2020. As both The Weather Channel and Local Now are owned by Allen Media Group, this latest development marks an expansion of an agreement that was already in place.
With The Weather Channel app now available, Vizio TV users will have access to customizable local weather information, including real-time weather observations, and a library of on-demand original programming.
Some of the features that Vizio TV users can expect with The Weather Channel app include:
- Real-time weather observations plus hourly, daily, and weekly forecasts along with pressure, wind speeds, and more.
- User choice of up to 5 favorite locations for easy access.
- A complete suite of full-screen maps for user control.
- Live radar, satellite, alerts and more.
- Severe weather alerts and future forecasts for subscribers.
For those that do want to unlock the full capabilities of the app, it should be noted that a subscription is required. If already signed up to a live TV package that includes The Weather Channel, subscribers can simply log in to the Vizio smart TV app using their existing live TV account details.
For those without a live TV package, or one that doesn’t include the network, The Weather Channel does offer its own standalone subscription. The cost to stream The Weather Channel without a live TV plan is $2.99 per month or $29.99 per year, and a 7-day free trial is available to all new users.
If interested in The Weather Channel, but don’t have access to a Vizio smart TV, the app can also be downloaded on a number of other platforms and devices, including Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Samsung TVs, Roku, and Comcast’s Xfinity Flex.
