The Africa Channel And BLKFAM Partner On Content Distribution, New FAST Channel

A new partnership between The Africa Channel and BLKFAM covers the distribution, marketing and promotion of content on each other’s platforms. The partnership will also eventually result in the availability of a new free, ad-supported streaming TV (FAST) channel.

BLKFAM launched in February as a new streaming destination for Black American family-friendly entertainment. With Whoopi Goldberg as an equity partner, the new streaming service is a FAST service. In other words, it is completely free to watch.

As a result of the new partnership, a new BLKFAM on TAC programming block is coming to The Africa Channel cable channel. Later this year, a branded BLKFAM Hub is also set to be added to Demand Africa, The Africa Channel’s streaming service. The agreement will also result in a similar promotion of content the other way, with a new TAC on BLKFAM programming block coming to the BLKFAM platform.

We are excited to embark on this journey together, leveraging our collective resources and expertise to develop and secure high-quality programming that resonates with audiences interested in Black family narratives,” said Narendra Reddy, COO, of The Africa Channel. “We were particularly interested in working with BLK FAM to connect Black American families to their African heritage, using our media platforms to promote understanding and make a lasting positive impact on the communities we serve.”

Looking more further afield, the two companies also plan to partner on the launch of a new BLKFAM FAST channel that’s curated and managed by The Africa Channel. No firm details on when this new channel will launch, or what it will be called, were provided.

As a reminder, the BLKFAM app is available to download on Amazon Fire TV, Android, Apple TV, Roku and iOS devices. The service can also be accessed on LG, Samsung and Vizio TVs, as well as through Amazon Prime Video Channels and YouTube TV.
