T-Mobile and Sprint customers can now get a Paramount+ subscription for free for one year. Following the launch of an Apple TV+ deal, this is one of the latest perks of being a T-Mobile customer and a great way to check out Paramount+ to see what the streaming service has to offer over a longer period of time than usual.
Paramount+ is a relatively new service and is one that took over from CBS All Access. A standard ‘Essentials’ subscription costs $4.99 per month, but consumers can upgrade to the Premium tier for $9.99 per month. Both plans provide access on a number of devices to popular shows, including iCarly, and Star Trek: Prodigy, movies like A Quiet Place Part II and Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin, as well as access to other exclusives and even some live sports.
New and existing T-Mobile customers on a postpaid consumer plan now have the ability to claim a free Essentials subscription to Paramount+. Once claimed through the T-Mobile website, the free subscription is good for one full year. As this deal offers free access to the Essentials plan, it is the equivalent of saving $4.99 per month compared to signing up directly and paying each month. For reference, the same promotion is also available to those on a qualifying T-Mobile home internet plan.
Once the free twelve months have been used, T-Mobile customers will automatically be converted to a paid Paramount+ subscriber. Therefore, they will need to cancel Paramount+ before the year is up to avoid having to pay the $4.99 monthly charge. Alternatively, they can then switch plans by upgrading to the Premium plan or opting to pay annually to save a little on the cost for another year.
It is worth keeping in mind that although the Essentials and Premium plans are very similar, there are some notable differences. Some of the major ones include the removal of ads and access to local CBS channels through the more expensive plan. T-Mobile Customers with a gifted Paramount+ subscription are unable to upgrade to the Premium plan during the promotional period and so they will miss out on these additional perks. For those that are already signed up to the grandfathered ‘Limited Commercials’ plan with access to local CBS channels, or already combining Paramount+ with Showtime at a discounted rate, it might be worth skipping on the T-Mobile deal, depending on the price they are paying and their individual needs.
