Streaming‘s total TV usage market share hit 40% in June 2024, according to Nielsen’s latest The Gauge report. After hitting 38.8% of total TV usage in May, this marked another all-time high for the Streaming category.

Not only was this an all-time high for Streaming, but it was also an all-time high in general. As Nielsen explains, Streaming’s 40.3% topped “the previous single category record set by cable in June 2021 (40.1%) and notching the highest share of TV ever reported in The Gauge.”

In contrast to Streaming, Cable saw another month-over-month decline, this time decreasing to 27.2% (down from 28.2% in May). In spite of an increase to 22.3% in May, Broadcast’s total TV share decreased to 20.5% in June.

Similar to Streaming, YouTube also hit a personal best in June, increasing from 9.7 to 9.9%. Likewise, Netflix saw a good increase, up to 8.4% from 7.6%. While Prime Video saw a slight increase to 3.1% (up from 3%), Hulu saw an equally slight decrease (down to 3% from 3.1%).

Elsewhere, Disney+ increased to 2% (up from 1.8%), Max increased to 1.4% (up from 1.2%) and Peacock increased to 1.2% (up from 1.1%). In contrast to Disney+, Max and Peacock, Paramount+ decreased to 1.1% (down from 1.2%).

At the free streaming service level, Tubi continued to dominate with another jump in TV usage, rising from 1.8% to 2% in June. This also marked the first time that a free service has hit the 2% marker.

Unlike Tubi, The Roku Channel saw no change at 1.5% and Pluto TV decreased to 0.8% (down from 0.9%).
