Charter‘s Spectrum News+ is now available via the free Xumo Play streaming platform. This expansion suddenly makes the news network available to non-Spectrum customers, and irrespective of whether they live in Spectrum’s service area.
Originally launched last year, Spectrum News+ provides access to a mixture of local reporting, national headlines and weather forecasts. At launch the channel was only available to Spectrum customers via the Spectrum News mobile, Roku and Apple TV apps.
With the news network now available as a FAST channel on Xumo Play, it is also now accessible to anyone who has access to the free streaming service.
“The launch of Spectrum News+ on Xumo Play gives our viewers another great option for staying informed on the latest events and happenings, especially during a critical election year,” said Stefan Van Engen, Vice President, Programming and Partnerships, Xumo. “News is one of the most-viewed genres on Xumo Play, and the addition of Spectrum News+ further enriches our lineup and demonstrates our commitment to delivering quality programming for viewers.”
Xumo Play, formerly Xumo, is a completely free streaming service. In addition to coming preloaded on Xumo TVs and the Xumo Stream Box, the FAST service is available on a variety of third-party devices and platforms, including Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Roku, Samsung smart TVs and Sony smart TVs.
For those without a compatible device, Xumo Play, along with the Spectrum News+ FAST channel, can also be accessed directly through the Xumo Play website.
