Sling TV is marking its fifth anniversary with plenty of five-based deals. Sling TV properly launched in February 2015 and is now marking this Sunday as ‘National Cut the Cord Day.’

Technically, Sling TV launched in January 2015. It was announced during CES 2015 and this was followed by a brief invite-only soft launch. However, it was February 9, 2015 when the service officially opened up and became available to the general public. While the live TV streaming market has changed massively since then, Sling TV remains one of the most subscribed to services and has now decided to brand February 9 as National Cut The Cord Day. In addition, the service has now announced a number of deals to celebrate all things “5.”

The major five-related deal is that Sling TV is now offering new and returning customers the option to subscribe for just $5 for their first month. This applies to either the Sling Orange or the Sling Blue plan. Those wanting to subscribe to Sling Orange + Blue will pay $20 for their first month. Following the discounted month, the price will return to its usual $30 for Sling Orange or Blue and $45 for Sling Orange + Blue.

New subscribers can also take advantage of a cord cutter bundle for just $5 when signing up. This bundle consists of an AirTV 2, AirTV Mini, and an OTA antenna, although the bundle is only available for those who prepay for the first three months of sling TV.

Current subscribers can also take part in the celebration

Generally, when services launch a new promotion it is designed to lure in new subscribers which doesn’t mean much for existing customers. However, Sling is looking to celebrate with everyone and that includes its current customers.

All existing Sling TV subscribers will be able to access any channel included in any of the additional Extra packs for free between February 7 and February 11. This includes channels from the Comedy Extra, Kids Extra, Lifestyle Extra, News Extra and Sports Extra add-ons. Each of these add-ons typically cost an additional $5 per month although Sling TV does already offer a discount to those who add all of the Extras together as a bundle to their base Sling plan.

If you’re an existing Sling TV subscriber and have already added the “Total TV Deal” to your package, then there’s not much to celebrate during Sling TV’s National Cut the Cord Day.
