Sling TV ended 2023 with 2.06 million subscribers. The latest subscriber update reflects a decrease in Sling’s subscriber base when compared to the quarter and year before.
With 2.12 million reported at the end of the third quarter of 2023, Sling TV lost roughly 60,000 subscribers during the final three months of the year. When looking at the year-over-year change, the 2.06 million reported for Q4 2023 is also down on the 2.334 million subscribers Sling reported at the end of 2022, resulting in a year-over-year loss of more than 270,000 subscribers.
It wasn’t just Sling TV that was impacted by subscriber losses in the fourth quarter of 2023. Dish TV ended the year with 6.47 million pay-TV subscribers, down from the 6.72 million reported at the end of the third quarter. The 6.47 million Dish TV subscribers was also down on the 7.42 million reported at the end of the fourth quarter of 2022, resulting in a year-over-year loss of close to one million subscribers.
Overall, the latest subscriber updates resulted in the total number of TV subscribers (Dish TV + Sling TV) standing at 8.53 million at the start of 2024. This was down from the 8.84 million at the end of Q3 2023, resulting in a quarterly decline of over 310,000. Considering the company reported 9.75 million TV subscribers at the start of 2023, the total number of Dish TV and Sling TV subscribers declined by just under 1.2 million during the year.
