Sling TV ended the third quarter of 2023 with 2.12 million subscribers. While this represents a small increase over the previous quarter, the subscriber base is down compared to earlier quarters, and significantly down when compared to the third quarter of 2022.

Dish reported a total of 2 million Sling TV subscribers at the end of the previous quarter, and this was one of the lowest subscriber counts we’ve seen for this live TV streaming service in some time. With Dish’s Q3 2023 results confirming 2.12 million for the end of September 2023, Sling managed to add around 120,000 during the more recent quarter.

However, considering Dish reported 2.41 million Sling TV subscribers for the end of September 2022, the live TV streaming service has lost around 290,000 subscribers when compared to the same quarter in the year before.

Sling TV’s subscriber base does seem to fluctuate more widely than some others, so even though Sling seems to be going through somewhat of a subscriber lull at the moment, it is possible the subscriber count could bounce back at any time.

In terms of Dish in general, the company closed the third quarter of 2023 with a total of 8.84 million pay-TV subscribers, which breaks down to include 6.72 million Dish TV subscribers and the 2.12 million Sling TV subscribers.

Unlike Sling’s quarter-over-quarter increase, this resulted in an overall drop in total subscribers, when compared to the 8.9 million pay-TV subscribers reported at the end of the previous quarter. It is also an overall drop when compared to the 10.02 million pay-TV subscribers Dish reported at the end of the third quarter of 2022.
