NBA League Pass is currently free to all Sling Orange, Blue, and Orange & Blue subscribers. Although this is only a limited-time deal and similar to the various free previews that Sling TV has offered in the past, it is a good way to watch more NBA action over the next week at no additional cost.

NBA League Pass is a standalone subscription service that unlocks access to live, out-of-market NBA games. So long as the game is not subject to a local or national blackout, NBA League Pass can be a good way to keep up with the latest games. If opting to subscribe to NBA League Pass through Sling TV, the cost is $14.99 per month on top of the price of a base plan.

Right now, however, Sling TV is offering subscribers a free preview of NBA League Pass. The free preview became available today (Jan. 10) and will remain available through Monday, January 16th, resulting in a full week of free NBA action. As mentioned, the preview is available to all paid Sling TV subscribers, so it doesn’t matter whether a home is signed up to the Sling Orange, Sling Blue, or the Sling Orange & Blue package.

If new to Sling TV and considering giving this live TV service a try, the NBA League Pass free preview will also be available to new subscribers after signing up. In fact, Sling just started a new promotion today that reduces the cost of a live TV plan by half for the first month. This bring the price of Sling Orange or Sling Blue down to just $20, and the cost of the combined Sling Orange & Blue Plan down to just $27.50 for the first month.

As this is a first-month deal, subscribers will automatically be charged the higher $40 rate for Orange or Blue, and $55 for Orange & Blue for the second month. The only way to avoid paying the higher monthly price is to cancel the subscription before the second month’s payment is due.

Of the two plans, some homes may find that Sling Orange is the better option overall, considering it also includes access to the ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and TNT channels as well.

If not interested in signing up to Sling TV, but wanting to try NBA League Pass, it is also possible to sign up directly to the standalone subscription through the NBA website. The cost of a standalone NBA League Pass subscription is currently $49.99 per season and a 7-day free trial is available. For those wanting a richer experience, the League Pass Premium subscription currently costs $64.99 per season and also comes with a free 7-day trial.
