Update 08/30: Sling TV had previously sent out an email stating that subscribers would lose access to Bloomberg TV on September 14th. However, the live TV service has since sent out a follow up email to confirm the first email was in error. Instead of losing access to Bloomberg TV, the channel will change to Bloomberg TV+ on September 14, 2022. According to Sling TV, subscribers can expect “an enhanced digital experience with more on‑screen information to accompany your feed.” End of Update.
Original article: Sling TV is dropping the Bloomberg Television channel on September 14, 2022. Although live TV streaming services routinely add channels to their lineup in a bid to offer greater value, they also occasionally remove channels as well. Even though these removals are often the result of a carriage dispute, channels can also be dropped for other reasons as well.
Sling TV offers two main plans for consumers to choose from, Sling Orange and Sling Blue. There is also a combined Sling Orange & Blue plan which, as the name suggests, brings together both plans to offer a more robust channel lineup. Bloomberg Television is actually one of the few channels that’s available with both the Sling Orange and the Sling Blue plan.
Due to this, the change is going to mean that all Sling TV live TV subscribers will lose access to Bloomberg Television. The company has not explained why it is dropping the channel, although it is now sending out emails to affected users confirming the change. The email explains that Bloomberg TV will become unavailable starting from Wednesday, September 14, 2022.
For those subscribers that would like to maintain some access to the channel, it is worth noting that Bloomberg TV can be streamed for free for up to 30 minutes each day by visiting the Bloomberg website. For unlimited access, subscribers will need to consider paying for a Digital Access ($34.99 per month or $299 per year) or All Access ($399 per year) subscription. Of course, there is also the option of switching to a live TV streaming service that includes Bloomberg Television. If opting to go with another service, then Philo is likely to be the cheapest option. The standard Philo plan costs just $25 per month and includes access to more than 60 live TV channels, including Bloomberg Television, and a wide selection of on-demand videos.
