Sling TV subscribers (and Sling Freestream users) can now play a selection of classic arcade games for free, and even while watching live TV. The new Sling Arcade feature is currently only available on Amazon Fire TV and Android TV devices, but Sling has confirmed that support for other platforms is coming soon.
For those with a compatible device, the games can be found in a new Arcade row on the Home screen of the app. While Sling says more games will be added soon, users can already choose between classics including Tetris, Wheel of Fortune, Sweet Sugar, Solitaire Clash, Poker Online, Neon Rider, Pixel Dash, Centipede, Doodle Jump and Coin Town.
Choosing a game will launch a full-screen version that’s designed to fully immerse the player. However, there is also the option to play any of the games while watching live TV. To activate a game while watching live, simply press down on the remote to access the player, navigate to the Interactive Features section and select Arcade.
The user will then be able to select and play a game in a side-by-side format along with the live TV channel they are watching.
“Sling continues to put its subscribers and users first. We want people to not only love the flexibility and control but we want the entire experience to be fun and engaging,” said Gary Schanman, group president, Dish Video Services. “Sling is now more than just TV. We want people to enjoy their entertainment just as much as we do. The new Arcade offering combines some great classic games with our great TV programming. No other streaming platform gives you access to more entertainment options for free.”
As mentioned, this new feature is not only available to Sling TV subscribers but also Sling Freestream users as well, making it a completely free benefit of using the Sling app.
