Sinclair and Verizon have agreed a new multi-year deal covering Fios TV carriage of Tennis Channel, YES Network, and local television stations in 10 markets. The deal is just the latest agreed between a channel owner and provider.
“We are pleased to have reached a renewal agreement with Verizon without any disruption in service to viewers, keeping our best-in class news, sports and entertainment content available on the platform for years to come,” said Will Bell, Sinclair’s SVP and Head of Distribution and Network Relation.
Previously, there had been some concerns that a blackout of these channels could impact Fios TV customers. The previous deal between Sinclair and Verizon officially came to an end on Dec. 31, 2023, and in the days leading up to that deadline, no agreement was in place.
Shortly before the deadline, however, Verizon did confirm that it had agreed a new deal with Sinclair, ensuring that customers would not lose access to their channels at the start of the year. It is that deal that Sinclair has now officially announced today, further confirming that a new multi-year agreement is now in place for the affected channels.
As is typically the case with deals like this, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Throughout 2023, Sinclair managed to agree a number of new deals including forging new agreements with Hulu Live TV, Nexstar, Paramount Global, and YouTube TV.
