The Showtime linear channel is set to be rebranded as the Paramount+ with Showtime channel in January. This is the latest development in Showtime’s ongoing merger with Paramount+.
In January 2023, Paramount Global confirmed the plan to merge Showtime with Paramount+ later in the year. That change officially took place in July, resulting in the Paramount+ Premium plan being replaced with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan.
Now, the plan is for the linear version of Showtime to undergo the same rebrand next month. Beginning January 8, 2024, the Showtime channel will be rebranded as the Paramount+ with Showtime channel. In addition to the change in name, the Paramount+ with Showtime linear channel will also offer more content than before.
In addition to their usual Showtime content, Showtime subscribers will also be able to watch select Paramount Originals and related programming on the linear channel. Some of the confirmed titles coming to the rebranded channel include Halo, Mayor of Kingstown, Sexy Beast, Star Trek: Discovery and Wolf Pack.
For those already subscribed to Showtime through their live TV provider, they can expect to see advertisements and other marketing materials over the next few weeks confirming the upcoming change to the linear channel.
In the meantime, Paramount Global has also confirmed that the Showtime Anytime app is due to shut down on December 14 – this Thursday. Once the app is shut down, Showtime users will continue to be able to access the channel through their live TV provider’s app.
