In an attempt to make it easier to find food, home and lifestyle content and programming, Roku is adding dedicated All Things Food and All Things Home content hubs to the Home screen.
In general, Home screens for many of the various OSes have become more congested in recent years. Google, for example, recently announced it is making Google TV app icons rounder in a bid to fit more on the screen.
With more shortcuts and recommendations than even before, it can sometimes be difficult to wade through the content to find something to watch, and this appears to be the reason behind the latest change to Roku OS. According to Roku, nearly 3 in 4 streamers (73%) feel they spend too much time trying to find something to watch.
To help specifically find food and home-related content, Roku OS users will soon be able to make use of the new All Things Food and All Things Home hubs.
As Roku explains, “All Things Food is a collection of the best culinary content on Roku, in a single, easily discoverable, and craveable destination. Users can browse and engage with a menu of shows in new featured rows including “DIY Meals,” “Healthy Habits,” and more.”
Likewise, “All Things Home is a one-stop shop for all home and garden content on Roku. Within this experience, users can explore everything from home décor to two-by-fours in curated rows, featuring recommended content such as “Home & Garden Hits,” “Home Improvement,” “Call in the Home Experts,” and so much more.”
Both new content hubs are due to roll out to users in the U.S. in the coming weeks. Once available, they can easily be accessed directly from the Home screen by scrolling down and selecting one of the hubs from the all-new Browse row.
While new, these are not the only content hubs Roku has added recently. For example, Roku recently added a new sports section to make it easier to find live games and sports-related programming.
