Reminder: Comcast’s New Free Peacock Rules For Xfinity Customers Begin Today

As a reminder, Comcast’s new rules for Xfinity customers take effect from today, adjusting who has access to a Peacock Premium subscription for free, and for how long.

Earlier this year, Comcast confirmed that a standard Peacock (Premium) subscription (which normally costs $4.99 per month) would no longer be included at no additional cost for Xfinity X1 and Flex customers.

Since then, the available information has been clarified to confirm that the free Peacock subscription would no longer be available to all Xfinity X1 and Flex customers. In other words, it is still available to some.

The date set for this change is today (June 26) so some Xfinity customers may have already noticed that they’ve lost access to their free Peacock subscription. For some customers, they may have lost access, but can still get Peacock for free, providing they sign up to the newer deal.

If an Xfinity Internet customer with Gigabit Speeds

Xfinity Internet Customers With Gigabit Speeds are now eligible to receive Peacock Premium at no additional cost for two years. If the customer has already linked their Peacock account with their X1 or Flex service, they shouldn’t need to do anything else and should already have access to free Peacock under the new deal.

For those that haven’t linked the services, they will need to activate the free Peacock subscription by singing into their account. The option to activate Peacock through xfinity.com/account should already be available, as it was due to go live today (June 26).

If an Xfinity Internet customer and Diamond/Platinum Rewards Member

If an Xfinity Internet customer and a Diamond or Platinum Xfinity Rewards Member, you are eligible to receive Peacock Premium at no additional cost. Unlike Gigabit Speed customers, you should receive free Peacock for as long as you remain a rewards member.

However, you will need to enable this benefit through your Rewards account (signing in to xfinity.com/rewards) from today (June 26). As this is now classified as a Reward, it will need to be manually redeemed by the customer.

All other Xfinity customers

Unfortunately, all other Xfinity Internet Customers are likely to have lost access to their free Peacock subscription. If that is the case for you, Comcast is offering the option to sign up for Peacock Premium at a discounted rate of $2.99 a month for 12 months.

This works out to be a saving of $2 per month or $24 over the course of the year. However, this offer is only available from today (June 26) and through Aug. 25, 2023

In reality, you probably can find a cheaper deal elsewhere. For example, we recently noted that an old promo code can still be used to bring the cost of an annual Peacock plan down to just $20. Even though this is $20 right now, it brings the average monthly cost of Peacock down to around $1.66, which is almost half the cost of the Comcast offer.

We should note that we expect this promo code to expire around July 8, so this will only be good through the next week or two.

Lastly, it might be worth considering Comcast’s new Now TV service. Priced at $20 per month, Now TV offers access to a variety of paid and FAST live channels. It also includes access to Peacock Premium at no additional cost.
