In somewhat of a strange move, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment has announced a new viewer reward program that applies to Redbox, Crackle, and Chicken Soup for the Soul streaming apps. Basically, viewers are rewarded for watching content.
For those unaware, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment owns both Redbox and Crackle. According to the company, these apps, along with its own Chicken Soup for the Soul app, have helped it to become “one of the largest premium content providers for value-conscious consumers.”
As an extension of its value-conscious stance, Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment has now confirmed plans to launch “a first-of-its-kind viewer reward program across its entire streaming ecosystem.”
Powered by TaTaTu, a service that rewards for viewing content and social media activities, Redbox, Crackle, and Chicken Soup for the Soul app users will be rewarded for watching Ad-Supported Video-on-Demand (AVOD) or Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST). Specifically, app users will be rewarded with coins which the company says can be used “to bid on prizes and buy products.”
Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment chairman and CEO, William J. Rouhana Jr. said, “In an era where others are raising the prices of streaming services, we are finding ways to reward viewers for watching our great content.”
It would appear that TaTaTu is the service handling the rewards side of things. These coins are actually TTU Coins and will need to be redeemed through the TaTaTu online store. The selection of products that are available to buy are also said to be updated on a regular basis.
