Peacock Passwords: Requirements And How To Change Password

Peacock password security

Whether signing up to Peacock for the first time or in need of updating the password, the streaming service imposes a few rules around what is and isn’t allowed. These include how long a password needs to be and the characters that can be used. For those specifically looking to change an existing password, this can easily be done through the account settings menu.

Peacock offers a good mix of content including popular shows and movies. With multiple pricing options, including a free tier, it is a streaming service that’s accessible to plenty of consumers. With subscribers also able to share an account and watch on a variety of devices, choosing a password that’s easy enough for multiple people to remember but secure enough to be safe can be a tricky task.

In terms of the requirements, the major one is the length. Peacock requires all passwords to be a minimum of 10 characters and the password must also contain both letters and numbers. If neither of these requirements are met, those signing up for the first time or changing their password will be presented with a warning message that the password is either too short, or does not contain any numbers.

It is also worth noting that, depending on the password chosen, the person signing up may encounter a “Your password contains invalid characters” warning. While Peacock does allow the use of some symbols and special characters, it does not support all of them. Peacock doesn’t clearly specify exactly which special characters are permitted and which are not. As an example, however, an ampersand (&) cannot be used in a password.

How to change Peacock Password

For existing subscribers, there can be times when a password might need to be changed. For example, when a subscriber is concerned a password has been compromised, or if having previously shared a subscription with someone that’s no longer using the service. Not to mention, with the constant threat of accounts being hacked, some may just want to protect their Peacock account further by updating the password to something more secure. Whatever the reason, a Peacock Password can quickly and easily be changed directly through the settings menu.

Change Peacock Password instructions:

  1. Visit Peacock website
  2. Sign in
  3. Click on the profile icon (top right corner)
  4. Click on “Account”
  5. Click on “Settings”
  6. Scroll down
  7. Click on “Reset Password” (Under “Password”)

Besides requiring a minimum of 10 characters and the use of both letters and numbers, Peacock does also suggest some additional tips for creating a new password. These mainly come down to avoiding the use of anything that could be considered personal information, in addition to using a mixture of upper-case, lower-case, numbers, and symbols. The latter of which is while keeping in mind the special characters restriction.

Peacock passwords summary

Peacock subscribers will need to choose a password when setting up an account that meets the service’s requirements. Mainly, the password must be at least 10 characters and include both letters and numbers. While passwords can contain some special characters and symbols, not all are supported. If a chosen password does not meet any of these requirements, the user won’t be able to create an account.

If an existing subscriber, a password can easily be changed directly through the settings menu. The user will find the “Reset Password” option located under “Password” in the “Account” section of the settings. As is the case with new subscribers, those changing their Peacock password will need to make sure the new one also meets all of the requirements listed above.
