Peacock Closed Q3 2023 With 28 Million Paid Subscribers

Peacock added 4 million subscribers in the third quarter of 2023, taking the total number of subscribers up to 28 million. While still some way behind other major streaming services, it marks yet another quarter of growth for Peacock.

To put the streaming service’s growth into perspective, Peacock had roughly 15 million subscribers as of October 2022. With Comcast’s Q3 earnings report confirming 28 million subscribers at the start of October 2023, Peacock saw a year-over-year increase of close to 80%.

When just looking at this year, Peacock has continued to increase its subscriber base each quarter. Peacock was up to 22 million at the end of the first quarter, and this rose to 24 million at the end of the second quarter. Considering Peacock ended 2022 as a whole with 22 million, the streaming service added as many subscribers (4 million) in the last quarter as it did in the first two quarters combined.

In terms of revenue, Comcast says Peacock generated $830 million in revenue, an increase of around 64% when compared to the $506 million reported for the same period in the year before. While Peacock still saw an Adjusted EBITDA loss of $565 million, this was also less than the $614 million reported in the prior year period.

One of the big material changes to Peacock during the third quarter of 2023, and what likely helped to increase revenue, was July’s price increase. Following this price increase, the cost of a Premium subscription rose to $5.99 a month (up $1) and the cost of a Premium Plus subscription increased to $11.99 a month (up $2).

The third quarter of the year also saw the benefits of Peacock’s deal with JetBlue go live for TrueBlue members and NBCUniversal agree a deal with EverPass Media to distribute Peacock’s exclusive sports content in bars and commercial establishments.
