Peacock ended the second quarter of 2024 with 33 million paid subscribers. The latest update confirms a subscriber decline when compared to the 34 million subscribers reported for the previous quarter.
While a decrease on the first quarter of 2024, the 33 million still represents a 38% increase on the previous year. Peacock ended the second quarter of 2023 with 24 million paid subscribers.
The quarter over quarter decline comes just ahead of the start of the 2024 Paris Olympics. With this year’s Olympic Games streaming on Peacock, it should be expected that the service will see an increase in subscribers during the current quarter.
However, the decline also comes just ahead of a price increase. Earlier this month, the cost of the Peacock Premium plan increased by $2, up to $7.99 a month. The price increase also resulted in the cost of the Peacock Premium Plan increasing by $2 as well, up to $13.99 a month.
Speaking of the price, Comcast confirmed Peacock revenue totaled $1 billion during the second quarter of 2024. While an increase on the $820 million reported for the second quarter of last year, it is a decrease on the $1.1 billion reported for the first quarter of this year.
Overall, Comcast announced a loss of 419,000 domestic video customers during Q2 2024.
