Peacock is now available to download and use on the Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro virtual reality headsets. As part of the VR headset launch, Meta and Peacock are also offering some discounts on the cost of a subscription.
Peacock has been continually expanding the value on offer with a subscription recently. For example, the recent addition of local NBC stations, a Hallmark Hub, and a live Reelz feed, among other changes. This is all in addition to the movies and shows it has been adding, and the routine access to various live sports events.
The latest improvement to Peacock now sees the streaming service gaining support for Meta’s Quest 2 and Quest Pro VR headsets. According to Meta, this marks the first time that the streaming service has become available on a VR headset.
For those that are already signed up to Peacock, they can simply download the Peacock app from the Oculus Quest Store on a compatible headset, sign in using their existing credentials, and start watching.
As part of the device support launch, Meta Quest users can take advantage of some deals that are specific to them. Existing users that already own a Meta Quest 2 or Meta Quest Pro headset (registered on or before April 11, 2023) are eligible for three months of Peacock for free. Considering Peacock plans start at $5 per month, this is the equivalent to a saving of $15 over the three months.
Those that set up a new Meta Quest VR device between now and April 11, 2024 will be able to lock down twelve months of Peacock Premium for free. Once again, as Peacock Premium costs $5 per month, this is the equivalent to around $60 when paying monthly for the full twelve months.
As to be expected, there are some additional caveats with these promotions, including the fact that they are only open to those without an existing paid Peacock subscription. So anyone with an existing subscription won’t be eligible to get any months for free. Still, they can now watch on their VR headset.
