Does Peacock Offer A Free Trial? No, Not Anymore

No, Peacock does not currently offer a free trial when signing up for a Premium or Premium Plus paid plan. Even though there is no free trial available, it is still possible to try Peacock out for free. It is just that, unlike other free trials, users won’t get unlimited access to the streaming service. At present, the only way to unlock all of the Peacock catalog is to pay for a subscription.

To be clear, Peacock did previously offer new customers a free trial. Peacock officially launched in 2020 and offered all new users the option of a 7-day free trial when signing up. Peacock has always offered two paid plan options for consumers to choose from, Premium and Premium Plus, and the ability to watch for free for 7 days was previously available with both paid plans.

However, Peacock no longer offers a 7-day free trial after removing the option for new customers back in June of 2021. While it is possible that Peacock might offer a free trial in the future, either on a permanent or limited-time basis, it remains to be seen if that will actually happen.

Disney Plus, HBO Max, and Netflix have all stopped offering free trials, so it seems unlikely any of these services, including Peacock, will add back the option in the future. Not to mention, Peacock does still provide an alternative option to the standard free trial experience that’s available with many streaming services – a free version.

Try Peacock for free, just not all of it

One of the reasons Peacock doesn’t feel the need to offer a free trial is that it offers a free tier instead. Many services have now started offering some degree of free access and Peacock is no exception. For example, there are streaming services like Pluto TV and Tubi that are totally free, and then there are paid services like Peacock and Sling TV that offer new users partial access to their streaming service for free.

Compared to the paid Premium and Premium Plus plans, the free version of Peacock is extremely limited. So unlike a traditional free trial, users won’t be able to watch everything that’s available through Peacock for free. Instead, they are only able to choose from a limited selection of titles.

On the plus side, the free version of Peacock doesn’t come with any time restraints. Those interested can visit the free Peacock section to see what’s on offer, but to put the difference into perspective, free users get access to more than 10,000 hours of content while paid Peacock users get access to more than 80,000 hours.

Even though the free version of Peacock is limited in terms of content, it can still be used as a way to test out the service. For example, the free version makes it possible to test the app on a specific device, check the quality of the video playback, the frequency of ads, and other aspects that could affect someone’s decision as to whether they want to pay for a Peacock subscription.

For reference, and although Peacock does offer a free experience, new users are still required to sign up for an account before they get access to the free version. Although a credit card won’t need to be provided, an email address, name, date of birth, gender, and ZIP code are required to try Peacock for free.
