Paramount Plus had grown to 46 million subscribers by the end of the third quarter of 2022, thanks to the addition of 4.6 million new users. A standard Paramount Plus subscription costs either $4.99 or $9.99 per month depending on the use of ads. There is also the option to save on the price over 12 months by paying for an annual subscription, as well as the ability to bundle Paramount Plus with Showtime at a reduced monthly cost.

Compared to other streaming services, Paramount Plus is a little unique in the sense that it brings together content from a number of different networks including Paramount and CBS. This approach makes Paramount Plus a good subscription option for those that want access to popular network shows but don’t want to pay for a live TV subscription.

As of September 30, Paramount Plus had 46 million subscribers, up from the 43 million reported at the end of the second quarter of 2022. While this is a real-world increase of around 3 million, the increase is actually higher. As Paramount explains (PDF), SkyShowtime recently replaced Paramount Plus in the Nordics, resulting in the removal of 1.8 million Paramount Plus subscribers. When taking this change into account, Paramount Plus added 4.6 million subscribers during the third quarter of the year.

Paramount appears to be expecting another good quarter to close out the year, thanks to “the array of sensational content coming to Paramount+ in the fourth quarter” and the launch of the subscription service in even more countries. Paramount Plus is due to go live in France on December 1st, followed by Germany, Austria, and Switzerland on December 8th.

While Paramount Plus is only one of the direct-to-consumer services that the company offers, it was the one that mainly contributed to the quarterly gains. According to Paramount, the company closed Q3 of 2022 with almost 67 million DTC subscribers, up from the almost 64 million at the close of the second quarter.

Pluto TV, also owned by Paramount, reached 72 million monthly active users globally during the quarter. This is an increase of around 2 million compared to the nearly 70 million Pluto TV users reported for the second quarter of 2022. Similar to Tubi, Pluto TV is a completely free streaming service that provides ad-supported access to a selection of on-demand content and curated live channels.
