The Paramount+ Essential plan is now available as an add-on option through Amazon’s Prime Video Channels. This plan does include ads, but it also offers a cheaper way to subscribe to Paramount+ through Amazon’s channel store.
While Paramount+ was already available as a Prime Video Channel, Prime members only had the option to subscribe to the $11.99/month Paramount+ with Showtime plan. With the Essential plan also now available, Prime members can sign up to Paramount+ from as little as $5.99 a month.
Even though this isn’t any cheaper than subscribing to Paramount+ directly, Prime Video Channels offers Prime members another way to subscribe. Not to mention, the ability to have the additional subscription managed by Amazon.
Regardless of whether signing up to the Essential or Paramount+ with Showtime plan, all new Paramount+ subscribers get access to a 7-day free trial when subscribing through Prime Video Channels. Once the free trial has come to an end, the subscriber will be charged the full monthly amount, based on their previously chosen subscription tier.
As a reminder, Prime Video Channels are only available to those with an active Prime membership. For those new to Prime, a membership costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year, and a 30-day free trial is available. It is also worth noting that, in addition to ads, Paramount+ Essential subscribers don’t get access to any of the Showtime content available through Paramount+.
For those considering signing up to Prime Video to get access to Prime Video Channels and the general Prime Video catalog, only the ad-supported version of Prime Video will be included with Prime membership from January 29. For an additional $2.99 a month, Prime members will be able to maintain access to an ad-free Prime Video experience.
