A free Paramount Plus Essential subscription will soon be an additional benefit of having a Walmart+ membership. Walmart has also confirmed that the cost of Walmart+ won’t be increasing as a result of Paramount Plus, simply making this a nice free perk for existing members, and a reason for consumers to consider signing up to the retailer’s membership program.
Paramount Plus offers two main plan options for consumers to choose from when signing up directly through the Paramount+ website. Firstly, there’s the $4.99 Essential plan which provides ad-supported access to all of the on-demand content. Then there’s the $9.99 Premium plan which removes the ads and also makes it possible for subscribers to watch their local CBS channel as well. Similar to other services, Paramount Plus does also offer annual plans which reduces the cost down to around $8.33 for the Premium ad-free subscription and around $4.17 for the ad-supported Essential plan.
The free Paramount Plus subscription set to be included with Walmart+ is the Essential plan, resulting in a saving of $4.99 per month. According to the announcement, Paramount Plus through Walmart+ is set to become available starting in September. As this is the Essential plan, anyone taking advantage of the Walmart+ benefit should expect to see ads, as it currently doesn’t seem like there will be an option to remove the ads by upgrading to the Premium plan through Walmart’s membership program.
Speaking of which, for those new to Walmart+, the membership costs $12.95 per month or $98 when singing up and paying for an annual subscription. At $98, the average monthly costs works out to be around $8.16 and that will now include the $4.99 per month price that existing Paramount Plus subscribers are currently paying for their Essential subscription. In addition to membership perks like Paramount Plus, Walmart+ also offers Amazon Prime-like benefits including free shipping from Walmart stores and no minimum spend requirement for shipping.
