Paramount Global And Nexstar Media Group have agreed a new multi-year CBS affiliate deal. The new agreements renews CBS Television Network stations in 42 markets across the United States, collectively serving nearly 19 million households.

40 of the stations are owned by Nexstar, with the additional two owned by Nexstar’s operating partner, Mission Broadcasting.

In addition to the CBS affiliates renewal, the new agreement will also see two Paramount-owned independent stations becoming The CW Network affiliates later this year. Beginning September 1, WBFS-TV in Miami and WKBD-TV in Detroit will carry CW news, primetime entertainment, live sports, and more.

Nexstar purchased a majority stake in The CW from Paramount Global and Warner Bros. Discovery in 2022, acquiring control of the network in the process. By September of last year, WKBD-TV had become an independent station, bringing an end to its affiliation with The CW.

While WSFL-TV was operating as The CW affiliate in Miami, the station was due to lose its CW affiliation in September. This was part of a wider decision by Nexstar to not renew EW Scripps Company-owned stations in seven markets.

As a result, the new agreement between Paramount and Nexstar will see the stations in Miami and Detroit once again becoming CW Network affiliates later this year.
