Fans of the OnDemandKorea streaming service will soon have another subscription option to choose from, as the Korean streaming service is launching a new ad-supported plan later this week.
While OnDemandKorea offers a free subscription, it can only be used for the first 24 hours, making it more of a free trial. Instead, the current standard plan costs $10.99 a month and unlocks access to all of the content available to watch, and without ads.
From October 5th, however, OnDemandKorea will offer the option to sign up to an ad-supported plan for $7.99 a month. Similar to the current ad-free plan, the new ad-supported tier unlocks access to the full library of content. According to OnDemandKorea, ad-supported subscribers can expect to sit through around 4-5 minutes of ads per hour.
In addition to the ad-supported plan, OnDemandKorea will also launch a new Family Plan option that makes it possible to share a subscription with other household members. Basically, this plan allows the streaming service to be used by up to four people at the same time.
At present, OnDemandKorea has not confirmed the price of the Family Plan, or if it is also expected to debut on the same day as the new ad-supported subscription tier.
OnDemandKorea also offers an ad-free annual plan. The yearly subscription option costs $109.99 a year, which breaks down to around $9.16 a month on average. It is currently unknown whether annual plans will also be available for the new ad-supported and family subscription tiers.
Late last year, OnDemandKorea added support for a number of popular platforms and devices, with apps now available to download on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku, as well as Samsung and LG smart TVs, and mobile devices.
