NewsNation is preparing to expand its coverage and will soon offer viewers the option to watch live news twenty-four hours a day Monday through Friday. As part of the same expansion, a new NewsNation Now block will also begin airing.

NewsNation is owned by Nexstar Media Group, the same company who owns various other local TV stations including some CW and MyNetworkTV affiliates. According to Nexstar, “NewsNation is the fastest growing national cable news network” and already credits it with reaching 70 million television households across the United States.

Going forward, those homes will start to find that they can access NewsNation more often thanks to the channel becoming a 24-hour news network Monday through Friday. According to the announcement, the switch to twenty-four hours will begin on April 24th, making next Monday the first time viewers will be able to tune in at any time.

According to Sean Compton, President of Nexstar Networks, “becoming a 24-hour news network Monday through Friday positions us well to keep growing our audience by providing them with consistently meaningful news coverage.”

As mentioned, and to help fill up some of that additional time, NewsNation is also launching a new live four-hour weekday programming block. NewsNation Now will be available to watch from 1-5 p.m. ET each weekday.

In related news, Nexstar recently agreed a new deal with YouTube TV which not only unlocked access to The CW Network in many areas, but also ensures NewsNation will remain available for the foreseeable future. This is in addition to the recent launch of a new NewsNation app for a variety of TV platforms including Android TV, Apple TV, Fire TV, Roku, and Samsung smart TVs.
