New Fire TV Cube Is Amazon’s Most Powerful Streaming Player Ever

Fire TV Cube 3rd Gen

Amazon has now released the third-generation of its Fire TV Cube with one of the main selling point being the addition of an HDMI port for connecting other devices. While Amazon sells multiple streaming players and devices, the Fire TV Cube is a little different to the rest due to it typically being a more expensive and powerful device. In terms of the latest version, Amazon specifically states that the Fire TV Cube 3rd Gen “is the most powerful Fire TV streaming player ever.”

Unlike many other streaming players which just plug in to the TV and offer access to apps, the Fire TV Cube lineup is designed to be more of a smart home hub solution. It can, of course, access many of the most popular streaming apps and services. However, it also comes with built-in microphones and even a built-in speaker to allow Alexa to provide feedback to questions asked or comply with smart home control instructions.

The third-generation Fire TV Cube includes all of the same features but also adds an HDMI port. Essentially, this makes it possible for users to connect and control additional devices, including cable boxes and game consoles. It also features an updated processor. According to Amazon, the new processor not only makes it more powerful, but also improves the time it takes to launch apps. Elsewhere, the new model also comes loaded with support for Wi-Fi 6E, Super Resolution Upscaling, 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, HDR, and Dolby Atmos audio.

In terms of the price, the new Fire TV Cube 3rd Gen costs $139.99, which does make it one of the more expensive streaming players around, and pre-orders are already open through Amazon. For those who would prefer to wait until the device is actually available to ship, the new streaming player is due to go on general sale on October 25th.

For reference, this was only one of the products that Amazon announced today. The company has also launched a new Fire TV Omni QLED Series and these TVs have the ability to sense when people are in the room. Amazon also announced a new Alexa Voice Remote Pro remote, which is not bundled with the new Fire TV Cube.
