Netflix looks ready to help with fitness-related new year’s resolutions after confirming subscribers will soon be able to stream fitness content from Nike Training Club. While not the traditional way to ‘Netflix and chill’, the added feature is just one example of how the streaming service has been looking to expand the perks it offers with a subscription.
One of the most notable changes to Netflix in recent times was the addition of games. Not only can subscribers now watch their favorite shows and movies, but they can also game as well. In 2023, however, Netflix subscribers will be able to quickly switch from a gaming session to a fitness session before then winding down at the end of the day with a movie.
Nike Training Club is available as an app on mobile devices and is designed to be somewhat of a fitness companion, offering access to goal-setting tools and content provided by trainers, athletes, and wellness experts. The app also includes various workout videos that can be watched on a phone or streamed to a TV. However, this latest announcement from Netflix does away with the need for homes to download the app, as many of the Nike Training Club workout videos will be available to stream directly through the Netflix app.
According to Netflix, the collection will include different classes to cater to the varying fitness levels of subscribers and will include programs that focus on strength training, yoga and high-intensity workouts. Netflix says it plans to make the Nike Training Club content available in two batches with the first due to launch on December 30th, 2022.
Starting Dec. 30, Netflix subscribers will be able to stream the following Nike Training Club classes:
- Kickstart Fitness with the Basics (13 episodes)
- Two Weeks to a Stronger Core (7 episodes)
- Fall in Love with Vinyasa Yoga (6 episodes)
- HIT & Strength with Tara (14 episodes)
- Feel-Good Fitness (6 episodes)
Netflix hasn’t confirmed when the additional content will become available other than stating that they will show up in the Netflix library throughout 2023. At which point, the two batches will collectively offer a total of 30 hours of exercise sessions. In its own announcement, Nike confirmed that Netflix members will have access to more than 90 NTC workouts in total. All of which will result in a range of workout types, lengths and intensities that require minimal to no equipment.
Netflix and Nike also said that each class will be available in 10 languages, and subscribers can find them by simply searching for “Nike” or navigating to the custom Nike collection section in the Netflix app.
