‘MeTV Toons’ is set to launch in June as a new over-the-air and FAST network focusing on classic cartoons. The network is the result of a collaboration between Weigel Broadcasting and Warner. Bros Discovery.
While Weigel and Warner Bros. Discovery have yet to officially announce the new network, a number of publications, including NextTV, TV Line and Variety, revealed the information on Tuesday. Those articles appear to have been published early in error, as they all have been removed again.
According to those articles, the new channel will launch on June 25. MeTV Toons will be home to a variety of classic cartoons and characters from the Warner Bros. vault, including The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, Tom & Jerry and Jonny Quest, among others.
The network will also air classic cartoons from third parties as well, including Betty Boop, Casper, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Speed Racer and Woody Woodpecker, among others. All in all, it looks like it could be a great option for fans of classic cartoons.
While it remains unclear how widely available MeTV Toons will be at launch, its expected availability as a FAST channel would suggest it will eventually become available through various free, ad-supported streaming services. We would also expect the channel to eventually be available through live TV services that already carry Weigel’s MeTV and MeTV+ networks, such as Frndly TV and Philo.
