As previously reported, Max‘s new sports tier will go live in October and will be available for free to subscribers for a limited time. After which, the Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On will cost an additional $9.99 a month.

It is no secret that Warner Bros. Discovery has been planning to add a new sports option to its Max streaming service, but details including the availability and the price remained unknown.

That’s now changed following confirmation that the sports tier will launch on Max in the U.S. on Thursday, October 5. According to the announcement, the new Bleacher Report Sports Add-On package will “deliver a full slate of premium live sports, including MLB, NHL, NBA, NCAA Men’s March Madness, and U.S. Soccer events.”

The announcement confirms that all live games airing on TNT, TBS and truTV will be available on Max through the B/R Sports Add-On. In addition to live sports coverage, the new add-on will also unlock access to additional related content, including studio shows and extensive VOD content. Select international sports events, including 24 Hours of Le Mans, will also be available.

Here’s a rundown of some of the confirmed sports coverage available to stream on Max through the Fall, Winter and Spring:

  • 2023 MLB Postseason coverage
  • More than 60 live NHL regular season games
  • Live coverage of NBA Opening Night
  • The inaugural 2023 NBA In-Season Tournament
  • Coverage of the 2024 Discover NHL Winter Classic
  • The presentation of 2024 NBA All-Star Saturday Night
  • Every 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship game
  • 2024 MLB regular season coverage
  • The 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs
  • The 2024 NBA Playoffs
  • U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team and U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team matches
  • Upcoming installments of The Match

“We’re thrilled to offer WBD’s incredible portfolio of premium U.S. live sports – featuring simulcasts of our must-see MLB, NHL, NBA, NCAA and U.S. Soccer events, among others – as part of B/R Sports Add-On’s wide assortment of compelling multi-sport content on Max,” said JB Perrette, CEO and President, Global Streaming and Games. “The greatest collection of Entertainment, News and now Sports all in one place…this makes Max the most complete streaming service for consumers and reaffirms why Max is truly The One To Watch.”

As mentioned, while the add-on is free to subscribers to begin with, this is only a limited-time offering to promote the add-on during its launch period. Basically, subscribers can watch the additional sports content for free through February 29, 2024.

For those wanting to retain access to the sports tier after the promotional period, they will need to pay $9.99 a month on top of the price of a base subscription. The good news, however, is that the Bleacher Report (B/R) Sports Add-On can be bundled with any of the existing Max plans, including the cheapest With Ads package.
