Max has confirmed that all live sports will now be available to watch in Dolby Vision, and just in time for this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game. As this is an advanced HDR format, it will require access to a device that supports the playback of content in Dolby Vision.

For the past few months, Max has been offering access to live sports at no additional cost through its B/R Sports Add-On. The newly announced Dolby Vision support will also be reserved for content shown via the sports add-on.

With Dolby Vision support available, Max subscribers will be able to take advantage of an improved picture quality. Something which will inevitably be all the more beneficial when watching live sports. According to Max, the improved technology will be available at no additional cost to subscribers.

What’s more, Dolby Vision support will be available to all B/R Sports Add-On subscribers, regardless of their plan. This is in contrast to 4K, which does require subscribers to be signed up to the most expensive Max package. The $19.99 a month Ultimate Ad-Free plan is also required to watch supported titles with Dolby Atmos enabled.

Max is the first streamer to offer live sports in Dolby Vision, putting customers in the center of the action with stunning visuals that come alive with lifelike colors, sharp contrast, and rich details. The Max update launches just ahead of NBA All Star 2024 so users can enjoy the coverage with enhanced imagery, alongside Dolby Atmos’ immersive sound.”

As a reminder, the B/R Sports Add-On is only free to subscribers as part of a limited-time promotion. Originally due to end in February, Max recently extended the free access for another couple of months. Once the free period comes to an end, Max will begin charging an additional $9.99 for the sports add-on.

In the meantime, all Max subscribers will be able to take advantage of the new Dolby Vision support when watching live sports in the Max app on a supported device. Likewise, those signed up to the the Ultimate Ad-Free plan will be able to take advantage of both Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support when watching live sports in the app.
