NFL Network DirecTV Stream

If you’re already subscribed to DirecTV Stream, or considering signing up, NFL Network is available. DirecTV Stream is a good option for channels (and sports) in general, and NFL Network is available with select plans or as part of a separate add-on.

While NFL Network was not previously available through DirecTV Stream, that began to change in June of 2023 when DirecTV confirmed that it had struck a deal with the NFL to expand its existing carriage agreement. Distribution of NFL Network via DirecTV Stream (and U-verse) was included in that expansion agreement.

DirecTV Stream offers four different plans to choose from. The cheapest is Entertainment and this plan unlocks access to more than 90 channels. Choice increases the channel selection to more than 125, and Ultimate increases the number to more than 160. For those wanting the widest selection of channels possible, DirecTV Stream’s Premier plan opens up more than 180.

For those specifically looking to watch NFL Network, the channel is only available with the Choice, Ultimate and Premier plans. As a result, the cheapest way to get NFL Network as part of a DirecTV Stream plan is to subscribe to the $108.99 a month Choice package.

Add NFL Network to Entertainment with Sports Pack

For those signed up to the Entertainment package, and not looking to upgrade to Choice or higher, it is possible to get access to NFL Network by adding Sports Pack.

The Sports Pack add-on costs an additional $14.99 a month and unlocks access to a variety of sports-related channels, including both NFL Network and NFL RedZone.

Channels included with Sports Pack:

  • ACC Network
  • CBS Sports Network
  • ESPNEWS
  • ESPNU
  • Golf Channel
  • MLB Network
  • MLB Strike Zone
  • NBA TV
  • NFL Network
  • NFL RedZone
  • NHL Network
  • Outdoor Channel
  • SEC Network
  • Tennis Channel

While subscribers to Choice and higher don’t necessarily need to add Sports Pack to get access to NFL Network, they still will benefit from access to NFL RedZone as well as up to 35 out-of-market regional sports networks.

NFL Network alternate options

For homes that want to stick with DirecTV Stream’s Entertainment plan, but don’t want to also add the Sports Pack add-on, a standalone ESPN Plus subscription might help to fill in some of the NFL gaps.

While ESPN Plus provides access to very few live games during the season, subscribers can watch live studio shows and on-demand original programming throughout the year.

ESPN Plus costs $9.99 per month on its own and can be bundled with basic Hulu and Disney Plus for as little as $12.99 per month, making it a good way to increase the amount of NFL content a DirecTV Stream subscriber has access to.

For homes that are willing to switch from DirecTV Stream to another provider, there are options available, and some of them are cheaper.

NFL Network on DirecTV Stream summary

DirecTV Stream does carry NFL Network and it can be either subscribed to as part of a base plan or through a separate add-on. Choice costs $99 a month and is the cheapest base plan that includes access to NFL Network. Entertainment subscribers can get access to NFL Network by subscribing to the Sports Pack add-on. Sports Pack costs $14.99 a month, taking the total cost of Entertainment and Sports Pack to $89.98 a month.

For those that want to stick with Entertainment and avoid adding Sports Plus, a standalone ESPN Plus subscription might offer enough NFL content to be worth adding to a home’s streaming setup. ESPN Plus currently costs $9.99 per month or $12.99 per month when bundled with Hulu and Disney Plus.

For those that are willing to consider an alternate live TV plan that includes NFL Network, Sling TV ($40 a month for Sling Blue), Hulu Live TV ($69.99 a month), Vidgo ($69.99 a month for Plus), and YouTube TV ($72.99 a month) are all worth considering.
