Hulu subscribers also signed up to the Paramount+ with Showtime add-on can now sign in to the Paramount+ app, unlocking access to even more content in the process and at no additional cost.
Over the past few months, Paramount has been slowing shutting down Showtime as a standalone service. Earlier this week, for example, the Showtime linear channel was rebranded as the Paramount+ with Showtime linear channel. As part of the shuttering, Showtime apps are also in the process of either being shut down or replaced.
Considering Showtime was available as an add-on through Hulu, that add-on has also now been replaced with a Paramount+ with Showtime add-on. One of the benefits of this change is that existing add-on subscribers have now gained access to additional Paramount content.
Another benefit is that they can now access the Paramount+ app after authenticating their Hulu subscription. This can be done by heading over to the Paramount+ partner page, selecting Hulu as the provider, and signing in with an active Hulu subscription.
Once signed in with the Hulu email and password, the subscriber will be required to create a new Paramount+ account. This new account will then be used to sign in to the Paramount+ website and/or the Paramount+ app on supported devices to stream content.
While Hulu subscribers signed up to the Paramount+ with Showtime add-on will be able to watch Showtime content and select Paramount+ Originals within the Hulu app, the additional content available through Paramount+ can only be accessed directly through the Paramount+ app, making this a benefit worth taking advantage of.
For new and existing Hulu subscribers interested in adding Paramount+ with Showtime to their plan, the add-on can be added by heading to the Account section, clicking on Manage Add-Ons (under Your Subscription) and clicking the plus sign (+) next to Paramount+ with Showtime (under Premium Add-ons).
For reference, Paramount+ with Showtime through Hulu costs $11.99 a month (the same price Paramount charges directly) and comes with a 7-day free trial.
