A Hulu Live TV subscription now costs $64.99 per month. This marks the latest price rise to hit the live TV streaming service and not only affects new customers, but also existing Hulu Live TV subscribers as well. It also follows the news that Hulu Live TV subscribers have now lost access to Sinclair’s CBS affiliates.

Price rises have become a major issue for subscribers. Originally, Hulu Live TV was only $39.99 per month, but the cost has slowly increased over the years. This is not just with Hulu Live TV, but all live TV streaming services. For example, YouTube TV started out at $35 per month, but has since climbed up to $64.99 per month.

Previously, Hulu Live TV was priced at $54.99, but has now increased by $10 per month. The price rise was announced back in November with the increase due to take effect starting from December 18, 2020. As a result, anyone signing up to Hulu Live TV today will now have to pay the new $65 monthly cost.

The price increase applies to new customers, existing subscribers, and those currently signed up to a bundle. For example, the Hulu Live TV plan with access to Disney+ and ESPN+ now costs $71.99 per month. With the Hulu price increase now in effect, Hulu Live TV and YouTube TV cost exactly the same on a monthly basis.

Worth switching from Hulu Live to YouTube TV?

For some, it might be worth making the switch from Hulu Live TV to YouTube TV, considering they are both now priced the same. Officially, Hulu claims to offer more than 60 channels, while YouTube TV is listed with access to more than 85 channels. In addition, YouTube TV comes with an unlimited and personalized cloud DVR experience, making it the better option for recording, compared to Hulu Live TV’s 50 hours of storage.

Then again, the decision might come down to the basic Hulu subscription. Priced at $5.99 per month for the ad-supported version, the basic Hulu subscription is included in the Hulu Live TV price at no extra cost and provides subscribers with access to a variety of show episodes, movies and Hulu Originals. For anyone who actively streams content from the standard Hulu subscription, they will need to factor that into the decision as switching to YouTube TV will result in an additional $5.99 per month, on top of the $64.99 per month cost.

Of course, these are not the only two options. fuboTV also costs $64.99 per month for the Family plan, although consumers can also sign up to the hidden Standard plan for just $59.99, saving $5 compared to Hulu and YouTube TV. Then there’s Sling TV from $30 per month, TVision (only for T-Mobile customers) from $40 per month, and Vidgo from $40 per month. In fact, Vidgo is currently letting new customers sign up for just $10 per month for the first two months.
